Description

Tuesday, January 23, 2018 for Transit Awareness Day. This pro-transit event includes a Legislative Briefing, meetings with lawmakers, and public transit displays in The Well of the Legislative Office Building (LOB). NYPTA is pleased to once again bring the transit community together in support of a unified message on the importance of a strong state investment in public transportation.

Your Active Participation is Needed

This year’s program will build on last year’s success and drive home the message that public transportation is vital to New York communities and a driving force of New York state’s economy. All public transit authorities and agencies in NYS are encouraged to attend. Business partners, with a special emphasis on New York state-based companies, are asked to participate and specifically share information about the economic impact their companies have on New York state’s economic success.

Make Your Voice Heard

The briefing on Tuesday morning will prepare you for meetings with legislators and staff. NYPTA’s legislative representatives will review key initiatives and provide copies of the Association’s position papers for distribution during your appointments. Position papers will also be distributed to legislators and their staff on Tuesday morning, January 23.

Schedule Your Legislative Meetings

Be sure to call your local legislators to schedule personal meetings on Tuesday, January 23, between 9:00am - 3:00pm. If you need assistance coordinating or scheduling appointments, please contact NYPTA’s policy director Bob Zerrillo at (518) 434-9060 or This email address is being protected from spambots.
