Governor Cuomo Launches Open.NY.Gov Providing Public User-Friendly Access to Federal, State and Local Data
Governor Andrew M. Cuomo today launched "open.ny.gov," a new and comprehensive state data transparency website that provides - for the first time - user-friendly, one-stop access to data from New York State agencies, localities, and the federal government. The website, featuring economic development, health, recreation, and public services information, was unveiled today during Sunshine Week, a nationwide initiative designed to raise awareness about the importance of open government.

Public Transit Leaders Convene In Washington
Nearly 600 public transportation leaders convened in Washington, DC at the 2013 American Public Transportation Association (APTA) Legislative Conference at the JW Marriott Hotel, March 10 - 12, to address the need for funding and policies that will support the needs of our nation’s public transportation and passenger rail systems. A variety of topics were discussed, including: ideas for new revenues to support shortfalls in the Highway Trust Fund and Mass Transit Account; implementation of the Federal surface transportation law, MAP-21; and the outlook for passenger rail and rail safety legislation in 2013. The public transit leaders will spend today and Wednesday on Capitol Hill lobbying their congressional representatives.

Four Months After Sandy, Transit Aid Arrives
Federal officials on Wednesday released the first $390 million in aid for East Coast transportation agencies as they rebuild from superstorm Sandy.

The grants, the first installment of $10.9 billion pledged to repair transportation infrastructure damaged in the storm, will go to the Metropolitan Transportation Agency, the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey, and the Southeastern Pennsylvania Transportation Authority.

More funding is expected soon. According to the terms of the roughly $60 billion federal aid package passed for Sandy cleanup, $2 billion of the aid earmarked for transportation must be released no later than march 30.
