NFTA Sees Possible Rail Expansion in Near Future 

NFTA's Metro Rail could be headed for its first expansion since construction finished a six mile track back in 1986. As part of Governor Cuomo's Buffalo Billion, the rail would extend its northernmost point from the University at Buffalo South Campus to UB's North Campus in Amherst.

CDTA Launches Navigator SmartCard Prepayment System

The Capital Region Transportation Authority (CDTA) launched its smartcard prepayment system Navigator at a news conference at its headquarters in Albany. Navigator is the new way to pay for all CDTA services and continues to showcase the mobility leader as a regional asset.

Governor Cuomo Announces 24th Proposal from 2017 State of the
State: Expanding and Improving LIRR  

Governor Andrew M. Cuomo last week unveiled a proposal to invest $160 million in transformative projects on Long Island. The proposal includes $120 million for the Long Island Rail Road (LIRR) to provide state-of-the-art enhancements to 16 stations and improve system connectivity with a new terminal at MacArthur Airport and a new stop at Brookhaven National Laboratory.

DOT Report: Transit Conditions Reveal America’s $926 Billion Infrastructure Investment Need 

U.S. Transportation Secretary Anthony Foxx  announced that a new report on the state of America's transportation infrastructure, "2015 Status of the Nation's Highways, Bridges and Transit: Conditions and Performance," confirms that more investment is needed not only to maintain the nation's highway and transit systems but to overcome a nearly trillion-dollar investment backlog.

Elaine Chao Commits to Multiple Funding Tools for Trump’s Infrastructure Plan

Elaine Chao, President-elect Donald Trump’s pick to lead the Transportation Department,  is calling for a mix of funding tools to help rebuild the nation’s ailing infrastructure.

During her confirmation hearing Wednesday, Chao backed Trump's plan to use private financing for a massive infrastructure package.
